Ajinkya Pal’s research is focused on advancing sustainable technologies that aim to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The work spans three critical domains: replacing fossil fuel-based platform chemicals with bio-derived alternatives, establishing a circular economy for critical metals essential to the electrification of transportation, and developing robust recycling strategies to prevent plastics from ending up in landfills. He specializes in process modeling to scale up these technologies, assessing their economic viability and sustainability. Close collaboration with experimental teams allows him to refine models based on experimental data, fostering continuous improvement in the early stages of technological development.
