Personal Profile

Alicen Kandt has been an engineer at NREL since 2003, providing assistance to state, local, federal, and international stakeholders in assessing the technical and economic potential of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water efficiency opportunities as well as providing technical support of projects. Kandt has a range of project experiences, including leading new technology demonstrations, serving as the lab lead for NREL’s work with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Park Service, and providing training in how to identify renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water efficiency opportunities.

The Water-Energy Nexus, particularly the quantification of the energy uses of water infrastructure

Glint/glare impacts associated with photovoltaic systems

Identification, testing, and application of non-traditional auditing techniques
