Charles Candon is a mechanical engineer at NREL's Flatirons Campus near Boulder, Colorado, specializing in the design and validation of marine renewable energy devices. Charles is involved in the instrumentation and testing of scaled marine energy devices in the NREL wave tank. He also works with rapid prototyping equipment and additive manufacturing to develop test articles for tank testing. Additionally, Charles is a developer on the MODAQ system, building the reference design for the software in LabVIEW.

Prior to working at NREL, Charles earned his degree in engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he participated in the U.S. Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition. Along with a team of fellow students, Charles built a scaled model wind turbine which was tested in a wind tunnel against other university teams.
