Personal Profile

Chris Bowyer joined NREL in 2023. His experience in the built environment primarily lies in his role overseeing the performance and operations of the Alliance Center, one of the highest performing buildings in Denver, Colorado. As an integral part of the organization and under his stewardship, he oversaw all aspects of the facility’s sustainability and green building performance. He also oversaw the programmatic efforts of the Living Laboratory, enabling various markets to expand and to maintain a sustainable development. This program incorporated NREL's research in end-use submetering, bidirectional electric vehicle charging, and direct current microgrids. 

Professional Experience

Book-ending his involvement with the Alliance Center, Chris was a respected and accomplished project manager in both the sustainability strategy and consulting and transportation consulting industries. This work included greenhouse gas emissions accounting and reduction efforts, photovoltaic and battery storage installations, and numerous LEED certifications. Chris is also an accomplished presenter.
