Personal Profile

Dane Christensen is a laboratory program manager for NREL's national security research portfolio. Previously, he was a group manager for the laboratory's cybersecurity research and a senior researcher for smart buildings. Since joining NREL in 2008, Christensen primarily has studied Internet of Things, data-driven controls and analytics, and cybersecuring grid-edge technologies. He led pioneering work in home energy management, resulting in a 2018 R&D 100 award for the foresee™ technology. Christensen has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, four issued patents, and numerous software copyrights, patents pending, and other innovative ventures.
