Personal Profile

Danny Studer ensures project deliverables and financial performance remain aligned with project plans. Studer also manages hiring for the Commercial Building Controls and Analytics group and acts as a central point of contact for program staff, business support resources within NREL, and external clients. In support of the U.S. Department of Energy's Net Zero Labs pilot program, Studer is coordinating a series of internal analysis efforts to identify the most cost-effective way to decarbonize (Scope 1 emissions) NREL's central plant.

Professional Experience

Studer previously focused on the development and novel execution of whole-building energy simulations using EnergyPlus and OpenStudio® to identify large-scale areas for the reduction and optimization of commercial building energy consumption. This project portfolio included leading NREL’s commercial building workforce development efforts, overseeing development of the Technology Performance Exchange, and managing the adaptation of EnergyPlus to the maritime environment.
