Eliot’s research focuses on multiscale high-fidelity modeling with large-eddy simulations to study interactions between regional weather and the local wind-plant operating environment. The mesoscale-to-microscale coupling techniques he has developed are broadly applicable to onshore, offshore, and complex terrain environments. He is also investigating different wind-turbine wake and wind-plant blockage modeling approaches and developing wind-turbine wake identification and characterization techniques. His expertise includes data analysis, synthesis, and management of large datasets from various field campaigns. He aims to develop open-source tools that facilitate data analysis as well as high-fidelity multiscale coupling between models and observations.
