Eric Simley is a research engineer with expertise in control systems, signal processing, and remote sensing. Currently, he is working in the areas of wind farm control, investigating methods to increase wind plant energy production through simulation and field experiments, as well as wind plant data analytics. Eric is a work package leader for IEA Wind Task 44: Wind Farm Flow Control, and previously served on the advisory board of IEA Wind Task 32: Wind Lidar Systems. Prior to joining NREL, he worked as a wind turbine control systems engineer at Envision Energy. Eric earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he researched lidar-assisted control of wind turbines. As part of his Ph.D., Eric was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to perform lidar remote sensing research at the Danish Technical University Wind Energy department.
