Overview
Personal Profile
Genevieve Saur works on a range of hydrogen and fuel cell research, mainly focused on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technologies Office portfolio of research projects. This includes more than 10 years of work on technology validation and demonstration evaluation as part of the National Fuel Cell Technology Evaluation Center, which utilizes a secure data center for processing and analysis of proprietary or sensitive company/state data sets from real world installations.
To advance understanding of hydrogen usage for energy storage, Saur has focused on both ends of the challenge: clean hydrogen production and end-use applications, including auxiliary topics around the integration with renewable electricity, large-scale demonstration evaluation, emerging storage materials, and delivery analysis. She has led a broad range of projects on the techno-economic analysis of green hydrogen pathways, including early market hydrogen production technologies and emerging technologies.
She has also studied fuel cell integration with buildings, including advanced, predictive buildings controls for more efficient power management and integration with next-generation grid services, as well as the use of fuel cells in data centers to provide clean, reliable combined heat and power for an industry with stringent uptime requirements. Throughout her tenure, Saur has been bridging the gap across big-picture analysis, systems analysis, hardware experimentation, and implementation, collaborating with federal and state entities, manufacturers, system integrators, researchers, analysts, and academia.
