Overview

Personal Profile

Janghyun Kim joined NREL in January 2019 and works in the Commercial Buildings Research Group. His work focuses on realizing better-performing buildings through physics-based building energy modeling, minimizing/managing incorrect operations in buildings, and learning/predicting building behaviors from past measurements.

Prior to joining NREL, he completed a Ph.D. at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories at Purdue University. His dissertation covered experimental studies for characterizing the performance of passive chilled beams in both laboratory settings and in field studies; development of passive chilled beam performance prediction models; integration of these models into building simulation models/tools; and the use of building simulation for overall assessment of different passive chilled beam system configurations.
