Personal Profile

Jon Keller is the team leader for drivetrain technology. Keller leads projects ranging from the development and verification of new drivetrains with improved performance, power density, and efficiency and to in-depth research investigations of failure modes and improvement in reliability of existing drivetrains often conducted in the dynamometers or field turbines at the NREL Flatirons Campus. Examples of these projects are the Drivetrain Reliability Collaborative and the NREL-led Next Generation Drivetrain. Prior to joining NREL, Keller worked for the U.S. Army at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama for 10 years, where he developed condition monitoring systems for Army rotorcraft to reduce the cost and maintenance burdens while increasing availability and safety.
