Kaitlyn VanSant began her research career studying organic photovoltaics at Portland State University, where she completed a master's in physics. She conducted her doctorate research at NREL, focusing initially on light-induced degradation in p-type silicon but transitioning to the fabrication of III-V-on-silicon tandem solar cells. After completing her doctorate, she became a NASA Postdoc Program fellow conducting research at NREL on perovskite solar cells for space applications, in collaboration with NASA's Glenn Research Center. Her current research interests are focused on the reliability of perovskite-on-silicon tandem devices and studying both III-V and perovskite devices for space applications.
