Personal Profile

Kelli Urban is a project manager within the Energy Security and Resilience Center at NREL. In her role, Urban supports the cybersecurity program office director with the strategic growth of NREL's cybersecurity program and supports the director with the development of NREL's national security portfolio. She supports the tracking of the lab-wide portfolio of cybersecurity, energy security, and resilience projects and helps strategically align projects with NREL's mission and capabilities.

Additional roles include overseeing internal budgets for program development, planning and assessment, and overhead funding, as well as monitoring incoming funds from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response and other funding sources within the U.S. Department of Energy and the energy sector. In doing so, Urban helps identify NREL's current impact and resources while forecasting the need for future work in terms of budget, scope, schedule, and labor. Urban also provides research support to senior researchers as they develop new concepts and proposals by organizing workshops, identifying funding opportunities, building business cases, and connecting researchers with internal and external stakeholders to market their ideas.
