Ken Hansen works on spatial diagnostics for low temperature water electrolysis cells. His first project has focused on tuning and developing a segmented cell system for acquiring spatial performance of cells with irregular features such as streaks on catalyst layers with good repeatability and accuracy. His second project has focused on detecting irregularities (e.g. wrinkles, missing catalyst) on catalyst coated membranes provided by an industrial partner and then characterizing the performance impact of the detected irregularities.
