Kristin Field-Macumber's expertise lies in collaborating with researchers and industry partners to advance clean energy and energy efficiency technologies. She is currently leading the Affordable Commercial Electrification (ACE) project portfolio at NREL. Field-Macumber is the PI for the 12 projects that make up the ACE portfolio, which include convening allies in the design and construction industry, providing design and operation guidance to warehouse owners, and incorporating equity considerations into energy work involving utilities, developers, and local organizations. In this role, she regularly communicates with the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE’s) Building Technologies Office about the findings and progress from these projects, as well as strategies to optimize any crossover with other projects within NREL and at other national labs. For more than five years, Field-Macumber has also been the technical project manager for all the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2) research projects conducted at NREL. She guides NREL researchers through their projects and the IN2 program, and she keeps the IN2 staff informed about the projects’ progress and any resources needed. Prior to these two roles, Field-Macumber worked on a variety of other NREL efforts. She served as a technical lead on DOE’s Energy Data Accelerator, assisted with NREL’s creation of the BuildingSync platform for energy audit data, collaborated with IBPSA-USA and RMI on a Building Energy Modeling Library to increase investor confidence, led a restaurant working group for the Better Buildings Alliance, and participated in several computer simulation projects based in EnergyPlus® and OpenStudio®.
