Liz Wachs' research focuses on industrial ecology. Wachs studies technology adoption by industry and its barriers. Two technological areas of focus are demand flexibility and energy efficiency. Wachs also examines how materials flow through the economy using hybrid input-output modeling. Methods used come from engineering and social science, including life cycle assessment, optimization, machine learning, interviews and surveys.
