Lucas Carmo's research focuses on the dynamics of floating wind turbines, an exceptionally captivating field that spans multiple disciplines. At present, he is involved in the development, verification, and validation of some of NREL's numerical tools for the analysis of floating wind turbines. His involvement in this field began during his PhD at the University of Sao Paulo, where he studied the interaction of waves with the floating platform using both numerical and experimental models. Prior to joining NREL, Carmo worked at the Numerical Offshore Tank of the University of Sao Paulo, where he helped establish one of the first research groups dedicated to offshore wind in Brazil.
