Nicholas Ryan is a cybersecurity researcher and software developer for the Cybersecurity Science and Simulation group in NREL’s Energy Security and Resilience Center. His current research focus is developing simulation environments to model electrical power systems. Since joining NREL in 2022, Ryan has supported efforts to scale the capabilities of NREL’s cyber range to support larger electrical power system models. Holding a bachelor's in computer science from Metropolitan State University of Denver, his primary area of expertise is in software development. Ryan’s other interests include scalable design patterns, automation, networking, and containerization.
