Overview

Personal Profile

Salman Husain works on the numerical modeling of Wave Energy Converters (WECs). He focuses on marine hydrodynamics, multibody dynamics, and controls. He joined the WEC-Sim development team in 2021 and introduced several new features to the code. He has developed holistic optimization routines that use frequency-domain and time-domain hydrodynamics modeling tools to optimize WEC geometry and Power Take-Off components. He also works on implementing Machine Learning-based methods to inform the control algorithms for WEC Power Take Offs. More recently, he has been exploring hybrid applications for WECs involving  WECs that have actively-controlled geometry features enabling multiple operational modes and applications. Additionally, he has also worked on Hardware-In-the-Loop microcontrollers, motion-sensing and general instrumentation for wave-tanks.
