Salman Husain focuses on marine robotics, hardware-in-the-loop, hydrodynamics, multibody dynamics, and controls for wave energy converters (WECs). He joined the WEC numerical modeling team in 2021. He has developed holistic optimization routines for WEC geometry and power take-off components. He has also worked on hardware-in-the-loop microcontrollers, and motion-sensing in the Large Amplitude Motion Platform facility. He also works on implementing machine learning-based methods to inform the control algorithms for WEC power take-offs. More recently, he has been exploring hybrid applications for WECs involving WECs that have actively controlled geometry features enabling multiple operational modes and applications. Additionally, he has been a contributor to the numerical modeling tool development for WEC-Sim and SEA-Stack.
