Personal Profile

Sam Sprik leads integration and safety research activities for NREL's hydrogen production, power, and storage group. Integration activities address technical and nontechnical barriers to the commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies to ensure that laboratory advances can be realized in the marketplace. A senior engineer proficient in analyzing large data sets, Sprik has extensive experience conducting technical evaluations of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and infrastructure in partnership with industry. Sprik started his NREL career in 1998, when he helped develop user-friendly software to simulate advanced vehicle systems, primarily for hybrid electric vehicles. The software, which gained widespread global use, was copyrighted and commercially licensed. Previously, Sprik worked at Chrysler Corp. in manufacturing statistical quality control.
