Sharad Mahatara uses computational methods based on density functional theory to study the advanced functionalities of the materials. During his doctoral work, he has studied the perovskite oxide interfaces, which have potential for hosting high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas. At NREL, Sharad is working on the two projects:  magnetic nitrides and nitride interfaces for neutron detections.
