Shaun O'Donnell's current research at NREL focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and processing of nitride magnets. His work makes use of a variety of solid-state synthesis techniques to prepare new and existing nitride compounds to study their structural and magnetic properties. Additionally, he is exploring the use of low-melting metal eutectics as a means for processing metastable nitride magnet powders into bulk magnets.
