Swagata Acharya joined NREL in October 2022. His work focuses on understanding collective excitations in strongly correlated materials. His primary interest lies in the ability to compute excitons, magnons, and various bosons that take part in superconductivity and their interplay. His current focus is on using disorder and defects to tune fermionic and bosonic properties of materials in a manner that can provide systematic microscopic understanding of physical principles that will allow us to make better next-generation optoelectronic, spintronic, and photonic devices. He works in building and expanding existing many-body methodologies to bridge the language gap between chemists, solid-state physicists, and material scientists.
