Georgios (Yorgos) Deskos is a senior offshore wind engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) focusing on high-fidelity, multi-physics modeling of offshore wind energy systems including atmospheric turbulence, wind-wave interaction, and how extreme weather events like tropical cyclones impact offshore wind turbines. Through his research, Deskos aims to identify and mitigate risks associated with offshore wind energy systems as well as refine wind turbine and farm designs to unlock the full potential of offshore wind energy on a global scale.
