Abstract

This issue highlights stories on natural gas vehicles, which could help the U.S. become energy independent while solving some of the nation's toughest environmental problems; an NREL-sponsored heavy-duty truck project in Houston involving liquified natural gas (LNG) as the alternative fuel; the economic and physical challenges to building and operating LNG-powered trucks; and the DOE AssistantSecretary of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's keynote speech to the 14th National Natural Gas Vehicle Conference held in Dallas last September.
