Abstract

This study explored the long-term fuel saving potential that in-motion wireless power transfer (WPT) could provide to heavy-duty (HD) Class 8 trucks. Class 8 trucks account for about two-thirds all fuel use in the HD sector, and their lifetime fuel cost can be five times larger than the original purchase price of the vehicles.
