Abstract
The winter issue looks at Ford Motor Company's test program to modify 15 Windstar minivans to run on either gasoline or E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline blends), or a combination of both, beginning in early March. Other stories focus on NREL's work with SWAN Biomass to evaluate the potential for turning rice straw into ethanol, the many biodiesel plants sprouting up across the country, and anethanol-fueled hybrid electric vehicle being jointly sponsored by DOE and the Society of Automotive Engineers as part of the Future Car Challenge for university students.
