    Abstract

    The summer issue highlights DOE's pilot-scale testing of cellulosic waste feedstocks for ethanol production, cost-shared projects for commercializing biomass-to-ethanol technologies, the recent increase in U.S. ethanol production capacity, and NREL's latest research breakthrough that promises to increase both the speed and efficiency of converting various biomass feedstocks into ethanol. ASpecial Report on the fuel ethanol production capacity of nearly 40 U.S. companies is also included.
