    Abstract

    The use of biomass--such as energy crops, processing waste, and agricultural residues--for electricity generation carries many benefits for rural areas, including new sources of income for farmers, more jobs, and economic development. And the latter is achieved while preserving the high quality of life, local control, and lack of pollution that characterize rural America. This fact sheet providessome specific examples of public/private partnerships that are using biomass to fuel a rural renaissance.
