Research output: NRELFact Sheet

Abstract

The objective of this study was to provide a real-world performance evaluation of insulated siding when retrofitted on an existing home. A 1960s home was selected for analysis, specifically located in Climate Zone 6 where the addition of insulating siding and a carefully detailed water resistant barrier have potential for significant benefit. Particular attention was given to quantifying building air tightness and heating energy use as a function of outdoor temperatures, before and after the installation of the insulated siding.
