Abstract

The global pandemic of the novel coronavirus SARS CoV-2 and the disease it causes, COVID-19, has in just a few months exacted a significant toll on populations and economies across the globe. The purpose of this report is twofold: 1. Present a broad assessment of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the energy sectors of countries in SE Asia, and 2. Identify potential opportunities to build energy sector resilience as SE Asian countries respond and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are rapidly evolving across the globe, and a more comprehensive assessment of the consequences will become easier with hindsight. Instead, this work intends provide early insights and potential actions countries may take during the course of recovery.
