Design Goals and Challenges for a Photovoltaic-Powered Electrochromic Window Covering

    Research output: NRELTechnical Report

    Abstract

In this paper, we suggest the use of an integrated, photovoltaic-powered electrochromic (PVEC) window treatment that can be applied to an existing window in much the same way that conventional, static, solar-gain control films are now applied. This concept is the subject of a new three-year research and development (R&D) project at our laboratory. We present our design concepts and rationale andidentify some of the technical challenges involved.
