End-Use Savings Shapes Measure Documentation: Central Hydronic Water-to-Water Geothermal Heat Pump

Research output: NRELTechnical Report

Abstract

This describes the implementation and results of an EUSS measure applying a central hydronic ground-source heat pump to a building with existing hydronic systems. The heat exchanger is sized through the GHE designer module (implementation described separately). The hydronic system uses separate heat pumps for heating and cooling, in order to provide simultaneous heating and cooling where required. The heat pumps are tied to a common level building condenser loop on the source side. The heat pumps provide chilled water at 44F and heating hot water at 140F, reflecting existing available water-to-water heat pumps.
