GeoVision Analysis Supporting Task Force Report: Electric Sector Potential to Penetration

Chad Augustine, Jonathan Ho, Nathan Blair

Research output: NRELTechnical Report

Abstract

This report describes the research conducted by the Potential to Penetration Task Force in support of the GeoVision. The Potential to Penetration Task Force, as the name implies, was responsible for determining the potential amount of geothermal electricity generation capacity that could be deployed under future scenarios. The report begins with a summary of the current U.S. geothermal electricity generation market and its likely future trajectory. Next, the models and methodology used by the task force are described. The inputs and assumptions used for the GeoVision scenarios are presented, followed by the model results for each of the scenarios. Additional sensitivity runs not included in the main GeoVision report are included.
