Abstract
The principles of quality assurance and quality control yield high payoffs when applied to research activities. Some examples are given, with particular emphasis on quality cost systems applied to measurement processes in R&D. By eliminating the high cost of low quality, an effective quality cost program can be supported and higher quality research results can be obtained at lower total costs.
