Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions: National Renewable Energy Laboratory University Partnerships Program

Research output: NRELFact Sheet

Abstract

To meet the demands of our world's future energy landscape, the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) needs the best and brightest engineering and applied science students. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) are home to many of these students, and NREL invites them to participate in an enhanced educational and internship experience. Beginning in the summer of 2022, 12 students from two HBCUs/HSIs are invited to lay the foundation of the internship in our pilot program. From here, an expanded rollout in year two, and full-scale operations in year three creates an opportunity for 48 of the nation's top minds from HBCU's, HSIs, and tribal colleges to lead the energy transformation.
