ICE Krome Service Processing Center Resilience Assessment

Research output: NRELPresentation

Abstract

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Krome Service Processing Center near Miami, FL secured congressional appropriations to complete projects that will enhance resilience on the site, prompting a request for NREL to provide technical assistance in determining high priority projects. After a site visit and extensive analysis with REopt, recommendations to enhance resilience focused on the reconfiguration of electrical distribution infrastructure and the installation of a solar photovoltaic parking lot canopy. These recommendations improve on an existing microgrid setup with two diesel generators, which will be made more robust with the implementation of NREL's recommendations.
