Abstract

Building Energy Analysis Simulation Programs (BEAS) are being used increasingly in the building design process. BEAS also are being considered as part of a procedure for compliance with the proposed Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS). These facts show the potential impact of the BEAS on the design and construction of buildings in this country. However, little or no systematic validationwork has been done to ensure that the various BEAS presently in use provide accurate or even intuitively reasonable results.
