Abstract
This project was part of an effort by ComEd to evaluate the energy saving potential of emerging technologies for inclusion in their energy-efficiency incentive portfolio. The objective of this project is to evaluate the energy-efficiency potential of high-efficiency motor and drive systems retrofit in industrial conveyor belt applications. The project is comprised of the following two phases: 1. Laboratory performance characterization of a high-efficiency and baseline motor/drive under various torque and frequency scenarios 2. Development of an engineering tool to estimate the daily and annual energy and demand savings of high efficiency motors in a representative conveyor belt system.
