Abstract

This paper reviews how oil and gas (O&G) can be extracted with less disruption to local populations, often for a lower cost, for operations in close proximity to city and suburban areas and other high population density communities. This work presents innovative practices from industry companies that the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis (JISEA) has engaged over several months, using several focus group meetings, and a comprehensive review of one mid-sized producer (Extraction Oil & Gas, Inc.).
