Large Demonstration of New Secondary Concentrators for Powering Lasers and Producing Fullerenes

    Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

    Abstract

We report on two projects at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory which use ultra-high solar fluxes to pump solid state lasers and produce fullerenes. We have produced 57 plus or minus 1 W of laser output from a Nd:YAG crystal. A summary of this experiment is presented. Also, a solar concentrator designed to produce fullerenes has undergone initial testing and progress on this project ispresented. We discuss each project and its implications on future research with ultra-high solar fluxes/
