Abstract
This book is about photometry - the science of measuring light. Before describing the measurement process in subsequent chapters, it is appropriate to discuss light and radiation. In the discussion of these topics, we will intruduce some elementary concepts that will be covered in depth in later chapters. The reader who is familiar with these topics may wish to ship this chapter; the reader whodesires to learn about or review them will find the chapter of benefit. For additional terminology, see Refs. [1-3].
