Measurements of Television Interference Caused by a Vertical Axis Wind Machine: Final Subcontract Report

    Research output: NRELSubcontract Report

    Abstract

The electromagnetic interference to television reception caused by the 17m Darreius at Albuquerque, NM, has been studied by carrying out measurements at a number of sites in the vicinity of the VAWT. The RF sources used were the commercial VHF and UHF TV signals available in the area. It appears that the Darrieus produces the same amount of interference on the lower VHF Channels but less on allothers. The modulation wave forms produced by the Darrieus are more complicated than for a horizontal axis machine and are not yet fully understood.
