Abstract
The winter issue focuses on the NREL PV Program for 1996, a year of achievements and firsts in photovoltaics. Some of these accomplishments include a record 17.7% efficiency for a copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) cell fabricated by NREL; the production of a transparent TiO2-based photochemical cell with an efficiency of 7.8%; the exploration of innovative nucleation and film growthconcepts; the creation of new transparent conducting oxides for CdTe and CIGS devices; and continued advances in the fields of measurement and characterization, codes and standards, and commercialization and manufacturing.
