Overview of Village Scale, Renewable Energy Powered Desalination

    Research output: NRELTechnical Report

    Abstract

An overview of desalination technologies is presented, focusing on those technologies appropriate for use in remote villages, and how they can be powered using renewable energy. Technologies are compared on the basis of capital cost, lifecycle cost, operations and maintenance complexity, and energy requirements. Conclusions on the appropriateness of different technologies are drawn, andrecommendations for future research are given.
