Abstract
This paper briefly summarizes photovoltaic (PV) market trends over the past 10 years and supports the premise that this market will continue to be a profitable one of U.S. companies. Worldwide sales of PV have more than tripled--from about 26 MWp in 1986 to nearly 85 MWp in 1995. During this same period, the United States has become the world's leading supplier, increasing its share of the worldmarket from about 27% to about 41%, making this country the largest supplier in the world. In 1993, the value of the U.S. production of nearly 21 MWp was about $110 million. About 71% of this production was exported.
