Preliminary Energy Analysis of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Cambria Office Building Ebensburg, PA

Research output: NRELTechnical Report

Abstract

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has undertaken a path to build 'high performance green' buildings as part of the objectives of the Governor's Green Government Council. The first building, completed in 1998, is used as the DEP's regional headquarters in Harrisburg. The Cambria office, located in Ebensburg, is DEP's second building. Many of the lessons learned from thefirst building were successfully applied to this building, which was completed in 2000. The objective was to provide a comfortable and productive work environment while minimizing its short- and long-term environmental impacts. This report covers an energy analysis performed by the High Performance Buildings Research group from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. The study included a detailed review of the energy systems, analysis of the 15-minute power data from July 2001 to February 2002, and review of the utility bills. Daylighting measurements were also conducted during the site visit in July 2001.
