Abstract
According to this fact sheet, this energy-efficient mining technique eliminates the expensive and energy-intensive use of drill holes required to place explosives. Other advantages include energy savings of up to 65% (compared to using the traditional explosives), reduced air pollution, and improved safety and control of the tunneling process.
