Abstract

The Research Division of the Solar Energy Research Institute has assembled its branches to cover major areas of solar conversion. This paper describes the range of interests and initial program areas in the Biological and Chemical Conversion Branch. The major categories of Branch interest are: (1) biomass supply, production, conversion, and ecological impact, and (2) photoconversion. In addition, there is future interest in thermochemical conversion to fuels, chemicals and electricity. Three of these areas are receiving initial emphasis.
